Services
We have a range of packages and services depending on your needs. To book a service or discuss what package might be best for you, please get in contact with us.
Behaviour package
If you’re struggling with a behaviour issue, not sure how to deal with it or at the end of your tether, this is the package for you.
In the consultation, we’ll talk through the issue and observe what might be going wrong, and then work with you to implement some solutions. We’ll then meet for a follow-up a few weeks later to track progress, support you further and maybe adjust the training plan if needed.
Ages appropriate for: all
Location: your home/local walking spots
Costs:
Behaviour consultation (2 hours – £50)
Behaviour follow-up (2 hours – £40)
Training package
If you’re after some general training or in need of help to undo bad habits, this package will help get things back on track.
During the first session we’ll get to know you and the dog, and then implement a training plan with lots of fun teaching and practical demos. Following sessions will continue to address training, but we’ll also focus on increasing the difficulty to positively challenge the dog and improve learning further.
Ages appropriate for: 1 year onwards
Location: your home/local walking spots
Costs:
Training session 1 (2 hours – £45)
Training session 2 (1 hour – £25)
Training session 3 (1 hour – £25)
Puppy package
Ideal for new or first-time puppy owners, this package is designed to set you and your puppy up for a successful future.
The prep session can take place before puppy’s arrival (or soon after) to lay the foundation for successful puppy ownership and equip you with methods to avoid common issues! Then in following sessions, we’ll teach you and your puppy key skills including name training, loose lead walking, socialisation, habituation, toilet training, recall and “leave it”, to list a few.
We are in for the journey as much as you are. So the sessions are opportunities for your learning and peace of mind as well, while we ensure your pup’s development stages are ticking over nicely.
Ages appropriate for: 2 months – 1 year
Location: your home/local walking spots
Costs:
Puppy prep session (2 hours – £40)
Puppy training session 1 (1 hour – £20)
Puppy training session 2 (1 hour – £20)
Puppy training session 3 (1 hour – £20)
Full training day
How does spending a whole day with a professional Dog Trainer sound? Well look no further if you want to address a few general training or behaviour issues at once.
We start the day with a consultation and observation to get to grips with the best course of action. Then after a short lunch break, we’ll return with a plan and get to work with lots of fun teaching and practical demos. The goal is to equip you and your dog with the techniques to build (or rebuild) the foundation of a happy home and healthy relationship.
Ages appropriate for: all
Location: your home/local walking spots
Costs:
Full training day (6 hours – £110)
Further one-to-one sessions
After completing a service package or the full training day, we’ll always keep in touch to support you and your dog on an ad-hoc basis.
We’ll never just say “goodbye and good luck” because working with dogs is a process, not a quick fix. We always encourage regular contact, and most owners find that further one-to-one sessions help them to keep on track with a training plan!
Ages appropriate for: all
Location: your home/local walking spots
Costs:
One-to-one session (1 hour – £25)
Classes
In classes, we teach key skills to set you and your dog or puppy up for a successful future, including: socialisation, loose lead walking, focus, recall, playtime manners, “leave it” and much more.
We only use positive reinforcement and force-free natural behaviour understanding – so you’ll also learn lots about how to communicate with your dog and ways to work with them. That being said, this is not an obedience class. Obedience is an “I say, you do” type of approach to training. Whereas at Unite Behaviour, we’re big believers in communication and teaching in order to build skills and strengthen relationships.
Ages appropriate for: varying depending on class (3 months – 1 year / 6 months – 2 years)
Location: Houghton Regis, Linmere
Costs:
Life skills class (6x 1 hour classes – £120)
How we work
Prior to meeting in person, you’ll be asked to complete a background questionnaire. You’re encouraged to complete the background questionnaire honestly, to help bring us up to speed with what you need help with and what you’d like to achieve.
We aim to arrive fully briefed and prepared with a rough idea of the best course of action. This means we can spend more time observing the behaviour, talking through what might be going wrong and demonstrating practical solutions.
First meetings can be a lot to take in, which is why you’ll receive a written report sent via email, including all the training, advice and discussion points raised. If needed, further meetings are followed by a brief summary, also sent via email.
Remember that we want to work with you, not against you. Using natural, positive and enriching methods, we’ll always act respectfully, behave with integrity and advise you honestly.
We strive for happy dogs and confident owners. To do this, we work with you to tap into what instinctively motivates, drives and encourages your dog, because dogs are at their optimal level of learning when motivated.
We work holistically and use positive reinforcement to encourage the behaviour we want rather than punish the behaviour we don’t want. Think of it like this, you wouldn’t sit in a restaurant and tell the waiter what food you don’t want on the menu in the hope they just “figure out” what you want. Instead, you order what you actually want and thank them for their service, which ensures everyone’s happy and on the same page!
It’s not our job to just simply make dogs understand us or assume they do already. It’s our job to communicate with them and motivate them to make positive decisions in order to create unity, build relationships and ultimately ensure a happy home.
